What Is a Binary Translator?
A binary translator converts binary code (strings of 0s and 1s) into readable text, and converts text back into binary. Computers store every letter, number and symbol as a number, and that number is written in base 2. This free online tool does the conversion instantly in your browser.
How to translate binary to text
Paste your binary code into the input box. Each group of 8 bits (one byte) represents one character. Groups can be separated by spaces or written as one continuous string. The translation appears automatically.
How to translate text to binary
Switch to the Text to Binary tab, type or paste your text, and choose a separator. Each character is converted to its 8-bit binary value.
Example
Binary: 01001000 01100101 01101100 01101100 01101111

Frequently Asked Questions
How does binary code represent letters?
Each character is assigned a number by a character set such as ASCII or Unicode. That number is written in base 2. For example, the letter “A” is 65 in decimal, which is 01000001 in binary.
Why are there 8 bits in each group?
One byte equals 8 bits, and ASCII characters fit into one byte. This lets you represent 256 different values, from 00000000 to 11111111.
What is the difference between ASCII and UTF-8?
ASCII covers 128 basic English characters. UTF-8 is backward compatible with ASCII but can use 2–4 bytes per character to support emoji and all world languages. Select UTF-8 for the widest compatibility.
Can I enter binary without spaces?
Yes. If your binary string has no spaces, the tool splits it into 8-bit groups automatically. The total length must be a multiple of 8.
Is my data safe?
Yes. All conversion happens locally in your browser. Your text is never sent to a server.
